Though forbidden to drive, he decides to race against D.K., the "Drift King", who has ties to the Yakuza, and loses, totaling the car because of his lack of knowledge of drifting, racing that involves dangerous hair pin turns. To repay his debt, he enters the underground world of drift street racing. As he becomes better and better, he must finally prove his worth in that world by once again racing D.K.
Sean Boswell, who has always been an outsider. In the land that gave birth to the majority of modified racers on the road, the simple street race has been replaced by the ultimate pedal-to-the-metal, gravity-defying automotive challenge … drift racing, a deadly combination of brutal speed on heart stopping courses of hairpin turns and switchbacks. For his first unsuccessful foray in drift racing, Shean unknowingly takes on D.K., the "Drift King," with ties to the Yakuza, the Japanese crime machine. The only way he can pay off the debt of his loss is to venture into the deadly realm of the Tokyo underworld, where the stakes are life and death.
The engine in the mustang is not a RX-7 motor it is a 4cyc. out of a Silvia S15 this is the Japanese version of the 240SX both made by Nissan. And the motor would fit in the engine bay of the mustang. Other than that the movie was very very very good, but to all of those people out there who think drifting is easy, you are wrong, drifting is very hard a should NOT be attempted on the streets. Drifting is a motor sport which should be left on the track. this fast and the furious is the best yet, and if there are more to come i hope that the movie makers find a better way to keep the attention of the audience, because Tokyo drift was action from the start to the finish.
just saw the movie at the grove last night. haven't had such a great time at the movies in awhile. the music rocked. the chicks were hot. and the chases are the best i've ever seen. i looked to see what other films are coming out this weekend and it's busy. here's my advice. first of all, you're here on this page obviously because you're interested in seeing the film. so for that alone i strongly recommend it. you will not be disappointed. i also saw nacho libre and it ws alright. it was shot for TV and should be watched there. my big problem is that the commecials took all the funniest moments. if you want to see lake house, well, go ahead. and garfield 2, come on. It's funny cars came out the week before. this week it's time for the real cars

After getting in trouble (again) with the police for street racing, Alabama teenager Sean Boswell (<a href="/name/nm0085407/">Lucas Black</a>) is shipped off to live with his father (<a href="/name/nm0329023/">Brian Goodman</a>) in Tokyo, Japan, with the understanding that he will not have anything to do with cars. Unfortunately, he is attracted to Neela (<a href="/name/nm2036142/">Nathalie Kelley</a>), the girlfriend of Takashi (<a href="/name/nm0974575/">Brian Tee</a>), also known"Drift King" or just DK, who has ties to the Yakuza (the Japanese mafia). When Sean is drawn into drift racing against DK and winds up totaling the car he borrowed from Han (<a href="/name/nm0437646/">Sung Kang</a>), Takashi's business partner, he enters the world of drift racing and the Yakuza in order to pay off his debt. Tokyo Drift is the third movie in the Fast and Furious franchise, preceded by <a href="/title/tt0232500/">The Fast and the Furious (2001)</a> (2001) and <a href="/title/tt0322259/">2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)</a> (2003), and followed by <a href="/title/tt1013752/">Fast & Furious (2009)</a> (2009), <a href="/title/tt1596343/">Fast Five (2011)</a> (2011), <a href="/title/tt1905041/">Furious 6 (2013)</a> (2013), <a href="/title/tt2820852/">Furious Seven (2015)</a> (2015), and <a href="/title/tt4630562/">The Fate of the Furious (2017)</a> (2017).. The screenplay for Tokyo Drift was written by American screenwriter Chris Morgan. The Fast and Furious franchise is loosely based on a May, 1998 Vibe magazine article about illegal street racing, "Racer X", by Ken Li. The only one returning is Dominic Toretto (<a href="/name/nm0004874/">Vin Diesel</a>) in a cameo at the end of the film. All of the other characters are new. 'Drift' refers to the sliding motion that a car takes when it races around a corner. In 'drift racing', the object is to drift while controlling the car during the slide. Paint is forced from the paint guns using a compressed air feed, which usually just blows cold air (there is no point in pre-heating paint since the car will be 'baked' in an oven to set the paint finish). It's possible the paint could be so coldto be uncomfortable when coming into contact with bare skin, though it's more likely the boy's discomfort is simply due to the bullying to which he is being subjected. Twinkie (<a href="/name/nm0510168/">Shad Moss</a>) drives a green 2004 Volkswagen Touran. In order to make peace with Uncle Kamata (<a href="/name/nm0002002/">Shin'ichi Chiba</a>), Sean proposes a race between him and DK with the loser agreeing to leave Tokyo. Sean puts the engine from Han's smashed up Nissan Silvia into his father's 1967 Ford Mustang GT, and DK picks the route, a winding mountain road on which he's the only one to ever make it down. The race begins, and DK immediately pulls in front but, during a near crash, Sean manages to take over the lead. DK tries to force Sean's car off the road, but Sean hangs in there, switching leads a number of times until DK's car suddenly flips over and plunges down an embankment, almost landing on top of Sean's car. When it is clear that Sean is the winner, Kamata tells him that he is free to go. Some time later, Sean has been named the new 'Drift King.' Twinkie informs him that a friend of Han's wants to race him, and Sean agrees. The challenger drives up and a silver 1970 Plymouth Satellite and is revealed to be none other than Dom Torretto. Sean compliments his ride and informs him that it's not a 10 second race to which Dom replies, 'I got nothin' but time,.' And so, the race begins.
